How does it work?

Four steps, from finding a flight to take-off.

For passengers

Your first flight in four steps

  1. 01

    Find a flight

Pick the departure airfield, destination and date. Each listing shows the time, aircraft, pilot and price per person.

    • Stay flexible on the date: light aviation depends on the weather
    • Check the number of seats and the luggage limit
  2. 02

    Request a seat

Send your request to the pilot, who accepts or declines it depending on the aircraft load and the forecast.

    • Give your weight and luggage: the pilot needs them for weight and balance
  3. 03

Prepare the flight with the pilot

Use the messaging to agree on the meeting point, luggage and conditions on the day. You pay your share of the costs directly to the pilot.

    • Arrive at least 30 minutes before departure
    • The pilot may postpone the flight if the weather requires it: it is their call
  4. 04

    Take off

Meet the pilot at the airfield with an ID, and enjoy the flight over the Mediterranean.

    • Bring an ID

Verified pilots

Before publishing a flight, every pilot declares their licence and medical certificate; the Fiamingu coav team approves their file, whether or not they belong to a flying club.

A computed price

The price per seat comes from the actual costs of the flight, divided between everyone on board. Nobody sets it freely.

A regulatory framework

Flight sharing falls under Article 6(4a) of Regulation (EU) No 965/2012, which governs cost sharing between private individuals.

Is flight sharing legal?

Yes. Sharing the costs of a flight between private individuals is governed in Europe by Article 6(4a) of Regulation (EU) No 965/2012. The rules are simple:

  • The pilot pays their share of the costs, like every passenger
  • At most six people on board, pilot included
  • No profit may be made
  • Only direct costs are shared: fuel, airport fees, aircraft rental

Fiamingu coav computes the price per seat according to these rules, and limits passengers to the seats available in the aircraft.
